PA’ANI KANALOA

PA’ANI KANALOA • OAHU, HAWAII
45 Artist Proof • 495 Limited Edition

In Hawaiian, “Pa’ani” means “to play,” and “Kanaloa” is the Hawaiian god of the ocean and wind. The title of this creation expresses and captures the movement, the power, and energy of the wave. I have come to realize that each ocean wave, whether placid, rolling, thunderous or magnificent is completely different from the last, and one never knows what may be coming next. In this particular instance, the harmonized, thunderous, crashing sounds were music to my ears as if Kanaloa himself was showing off his immeasurable abilities. I took thousands of exposures throughout these few days but selected this one for my gallery wall as Kanaloa and his angels appeared to be putting on a show, striking mid-air poses amid racing through the glassy waters with wild abandon.
I hope this image revivifies your inner child playfulness, will, and freedom to create beautiful effects without a care in the world.
